Books in Progress (Proposals)

Below you will find four overviews of books that James is currently presenting to publishers- the concepts also tie heavily into James’ live presentations. For more information, or to receive a full book proposal, please contact james@infusedministries.com.

"The Sky Opened and God Fell Out - A Conversation with Timothy of Lystra"  What if Timothy, in a moment of frustration, hours before his execution asked God to show him that his ministry- his life, had been worth it? What if God in turn chose to open a connection to a turning point in Church history, attempting to reconnect Timothy’s example to revive the church through the youth of that day? What if God chose your cell phone to be both Timothy’s reassurance and connection to that generation?  What if Timothy called the very day you were about to walk away from your own calling?
"The Sky Opened and God Fell Out" is a ‘conversations with’ style book- tracing seven phone conversations. Although a work of fiction, the book is infused with a fast paced character study of Timothy’s life occurring in 22-hours of "real time." At its core "The Sky Opened and God Fell Out" connects Gen Y readers to Timothy. Pointing out their amazing similarities, while giving him a voice to challenge them directly through taking real life issues head on. Eventually we both come to the realization that our only hope is that Gen Y leads the church to a renewal of heart and purpose. The conversations cover questions concerning eleven specific Timothy passages, his legacy, his view of Paul and others, and our hope for Gen Y and their place in the future of Christianity.

"The Timothy Generation - Finding Your Inner Paul to Reach Gen Y’s Inner Timothy" Gen Y/Millennials are looking for something real, something that puts them in over their heads, something they can give their hearts to. But, why does a generation known for their spiritual hunger - four of five American teens visited a Christian church last year - remain the most un-churched generation in American history? The answer is simple, our world has created a generation of "sincerity detectors" and today’s wishy-washy "Christianity" isn’t reaching them. These kids detest the insincerity projected by church leadership and congregations.
Frustrated by the Emergent/Youth Specialties model that Gen Xers flocked to, these youth want to be pushed, to be fed, to be challenged to give their life to something worthy of their offering. "The Timothy Generation" guides youth leaders through how to challenge today’s youth via Paul’s and Timothy’s example.
Focusing on mentoring through personal challenge, "The Timothy Generation" is more than a how to do youth ministry text. This book challenges the leader and students directly. Through stats that help define Gen Y, personal stories of challenged youth, and focusing on the need of leaders to fill Paul’s shoes, "The Timothy Generation" equips youth leaders to tug at the Timothy-like hearts of today’s youth, building leaders into examples this generation follow.

"Competitive Dating - How to Find the Best Date / How to Be the Best Date"  As a camp director I have seen hundreds of Christian "couples" and thousands of "singles" interacting over the last sixteen years and I know this- most guys are inherently immature and clueless, while girls are far too concerned with impressing those boys. Neither seems to have a handle on how important it is to seek out -- to actually compete for the best "date" available.
"Competitive Dating" is built through 24 (or more) dating tactics. From the "Pooped Pants Tactic," to the "Fifteen Minutes Early Tactic," or the "Pray now or Pay Later Tactic" that walks youth through the importance of finding their place in the dating world, the right date, the important aspects of a date. While also covering several yellow flags that signal its time to walk away.
Each chapter is three to six pages long- presenting a combination of a specific challenge, a real life story or creative analogy, and a Biblical parallel. This is not a "you can’t do this and you better not do that" kind of book. "Competitive Dating" offers real solutions, while at the same time laughing at the system and having fun through creatively guiding young men and woman in how they can raise their dating standards and expectations.
We must learn to think of dating differently -- a competition to both be the best and find the best date available.
